The Governor's Office of Tourism, Trade,
and Economic Development (OTTED) has the responsibility of monitoring U.S.
laws and directives to ensure all federal treaties regarding foreign privileges
and immunities
| Florida hosts the
fourth largest Consular Corps in the United States after California,
New York, and Texas. Florida's ever-expanding Consular Corps currently
consists of 118 consular missions and official
trade/tourism offices, representing 78 countries. The
offices listed in this directory are accredited by the U. S. Department
of State and recognized by the Office of the Governor. |
are properly observed in Florida. Rules have been established concerning
foreign governmental officials that:
- establish a viable and current consular registration program
- produce and maintain an official Florida Consular Corps Directory
- maintain active communication with the U.S. Department of State to
be currently informed of foreign governmental personnel stationed in
Florida
- maintain an active dialogue with foreign countries that historically
have dealings with Florida to keep them informed of proper consular
procedures
- issue state credentials to foreign governmental officials who are
properly verified by the U.S. Department of State
- verify entitlement to sales and use tax exemptions (according to U.S.
Department of State guidelines) and Florida consular license plates
for motor vehicles
- establish a system of communication to provide state and local law
enforcement agencies with information on procedures relating to the
arrest of foreign nationals
- coordinate special social, cultural, or educational activities between
foreign governments and Florida
- notify all newly arrived foreign governmental officials of our offered
services
