“In celebrating our great nation’s Independence Day, unlike any other nation in history, we have the chance to reflect on the freedom we experience each day as Americans. Throughout our state and across the nation, we are blessed with rich diversity, vast beauty and boundless opportunity to pursue our dreams for a better life.
“On the Fourth of July, we reflect with gratitude on the hope and strength of our forefathers who declared our independence against tyranny. We also honor the courage of those who fought for and continue to defend our freedom today. It is this dream of liberty and opportunity, which all men and women hold dear, that inspired my grandfather to come to this country from Cyprus a century ago.
“I wish all Floridians and their families a safe and blessed holiday. May we remember the faithful service and sacrifice of the men and women of our Armed Forces as we embrace the bold ideals of freedom, hard work and determination that will make our nation endure for generations to come.
“May God continue to bless our nation and the great state of Florida.”
